Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Service Center Director to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Service Center, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, administer, supervise, monitor, and evaluate the day-to-day operations of the Service Center
  • Assist clients in a polite and friendly manner
  • Serve as a lead worker to volunteers, beneficiaries, and/or subordinate personnel
  • Recruit and assist with training Advisory Council members
  • Attend Advisory Council meetings and other required meetings and conferences conducted by Divisional Headquarters
  • Supervise, assign, instruct, and monitor the work of employees, if applicable
  • Train and instruct employees in the proper methods and procedures
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide salary and hiring/firing recommendations to the Divisional Service Extension Director
  • Prepare and maintain personnel records for staff and ensure the accuracy and completeness of the same
  • Track and monitor employee attendance, process employee time-sheets, and call hours into payroll
  • Implement the fundraising and development strategies for the Service Center
  • Request, process, and receipt donated monies
  • Input data into the computer, prepare deposits, and/or submit checks for further processing in a timely manner
  • Maintain the accountability and security of checks
  • Issue information material to local news media as needed to alert the community to the needs of The Salvation Army and its clients
  • Increase The Salvation Army's visibility and standing in the community by attending civic club meetings, visiting local establishments, and reaching out to the community in times of need
  • Act as a first responder in times of disaster
  • Prepare and maintain statistical records on all services provided
  • Compile and prepare monthly statistical reports
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the same
  • Interview clients requesting assistance to determine client's eligibility for assistance based on program guidelines and restrictions
  • Record clients' disposition and other pertinent information such as income, expenses, family, and work history
  • Assist clients in completing applications for assistance
  • Photocopy social security cards, picture identification cards, payroll statements, utility bills, etc.
  • Prepare, complete, and process food, clothing, and furniture vouchers for eligible clients
  • Locate and arrange temporary housing for eligible clients
  • Process rent and utility financial assistance for eligible clients
  • Contact utility organizations and landlords to arrange and process financial assistance
  • Serve as liaison to other agencies to obtain/coordinate assistance on client's behalf
  • Build and maintain professional working relationships with community agencies
  • Prepare and file client records in a timely manner ensuring all information is accurate and up to date
  • Obtain signatures of clients as needed
  • Review and track all client records to determine if client is active or inactive
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information
  • Supervise the general maintenance and cleaning work needed for the Service Center
  • Ensure that the facility is properly maintained in a neat and orderly manner
  • Ensure the exterior and grounds to include coordination of mowing grass, trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris
  • Maintain the beautification of the grounds
  • Coordinate yard work with program participants
  • Travel and visit area Service Units, both systematically and as needed, to conduct evaluations of programs and performance of Service Unit representatives and personnel
  • Recruit, orient, train, assign, and supervise seasonal bell-ringer staff
  • Maintain records of their work for payroll purposes
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment for the store and warehouse operations
