Truist Financial Corporation - Risk Management Consultant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and oversee regulatory change risk, external events, data, model, third-party, and cyber risk for the designated business unit. Ensure effective monitoring and governance of issues management.
  • Contribute to the evolution and enhancement of the organization's risk programs to align with regulatory standards.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Operational Risk Management (ORM) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) initiatives, providing constructive feedback on program modifications. Engage in relevant working groups for risk program development.
  • Facilitate communication, training, and adherence monitoring for business partners and Global Compliance and Operational Risk (GCO) colleagues regarding updates in risk programs; offer guidance on effective implementation and share best practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between the GCO, first line team members, and second line risk program stakeholders.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for revisions to pertinent policies and procedures related to risk program execution.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with business unit leaders and second and third line risk partners.
  • Prepare and present materials in various leadership meetings and committees.
  • Guide and mentor team members within the risk execution group.

Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related academic field, or equivalent education and experience. A minimum of five years of experience in risk management within financial services or a comparable sector. Strong leadership and communication capabilities. Proficient in critical and strategic thinking, multitasking, and driving organizational change. Excellent quantitative, governance, and analytical skills. Ability to provide constructive challenge to senior leadership. Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office. Willingness to travel occasionally for work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in Finance or a related academic field.
  • Certification as a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) or equivalent advanced risk certification.
