Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
  1. Exemplifies and communicates the values of a cause-driven leader, serving as a role model for staff and members in promoting healthy living practices.
  2. Prepares the learning environment daily, ensuring it is safe and suitable for the age group; maintains cleanliness and organization of the classroom; oversees classroom supplies; and conducts annual assessments of the environment using established tools.
  3. Welcomes each child and parent daily, maintaining professional and frequent communication with families, children, and colleagues.
  4. Facilitates informal orientations for children new to the classroom, including transition meetings.
  5. Evaluates each child's developmental needs through both formal and informal assessments, setting and monitoring individual goals. Documents observations to inform curriculum planning and assessment.
  6. Conducts parent-teacher conferences utilizing assessment outcomes.
  7. Develops and implements lesson plans that reflect a balanced and diverse program for children, adhering to curriculum guidelines and standards.
  8. Provides appropriate affection, verbal encouragement, and acceptance while establishing clear, consistent, and developmentally suitable behavioral expectations.
  9. Assists in ensuring compliance with all relevant licensing and accreditation requirements.
  10. Maintains accurate records and documentation for student files, funding, and other initiatives; enters data into systems promptly.
  11. Contributes to team projects, coordinating effectively with supervisors, families, and staff, and takes on leadership roles in special events when necessary.
  12. Participates in all staff meetings and relevant child care workshops, ensuring training hours meet required guidelines.
  13. Adheres to scheduled hours, follows absence procedures, and provides lesson plans and guidance in the event of absence.
  14. Assists in training new staff members.
  15. Completes duties as required by applicable food program standards.
  16. Works assigned shifts to meet teacher-child ratio requirements.

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or listen. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in child development, elementary education, or a related field; prior experience in early childhood education or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Career Pathway Level as determined by program requirements.
  • Must provide a medical statement as mandated by relevant standards and maintain current training certifications in first aid, communicable diseases, and child abuse recognition and prevention.
