Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Protection Specialist to join our System Protection & Automation Engineering team within the Power Sector. This role involves close collaboration with a talented group of engineers focused on distribution protection projects for various utility and municipal clients nationwide.

The successful candidate will be tasked with conducting fault analysis, developing relay settings, and preparing related documentation for protective relays and control IEDs.

In this role, you will interface with clients and various departments, ensuring adherence to quality control and assurance practices.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting power systems analysis and fault current assessments.
  • Coordinating protection strategies and developing documentation for protective relay settings.
  • Evaluating equipment specifications and implementing new technologies in line with industry standards.
  • Creating protection standards and templates for client use.
  • Providing oversight for critical electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Preparing and reviewing project scopes and ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Leading engineering efforts on assigned projects and facilitating effective communication.
  • Supporting field personnel during testing and commissioning phases.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Professional Engineer registration or Engineer-in-Training status is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, particularly in relay settings and distribution engineering.
  • Proficiency in distribution protection software such as ASPEN, CYME, and AcSELerator Quickset.
