Position: Senior Manufacturing Specialist

Role Overview:

The Senior Manufacturing Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for high-precision opto-electronic components utilizing advanced microwave and fiber-optic technologies. This role involves hands-on engagement in a low-volume, high-mix assembly and testing environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting wafer back-end processing and chip-on-carrier assembly.
  • Enhancing manufacturing processes through Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Implementing statistical process controls and conducting analyses using software tools such as Minitab.
  • Streamlining operations and minimizing waste through value engineering and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborating with Product Development teams to facilitate the introduction of new products into production.
  • Drafting modifications to improve product quality, yield, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
  • Designing and implementing assembly fixtures, jigs, and testing setups for production use.
  • Assessing ergonomics and safety within the production environment and evaluating the condition of existing fixtures.
  • Leading moderately complex equipment installations and qualifications.
  • Establishing preventive maintenance schedules for equipment.
  • Coordinating corrective maintenance activities as necessary.
  • Creating and updating product documentation using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Utilizing Agile systems for submitting Engineering Change Orders and new manufacturing procedures.
  • Leading Kaizen initiatives to support Lean Manufacturing efforts.
  • Training production personnel on manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
  • Supporting the AS9100 Quality System and conducting risk assessments on equipment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% as required.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a closely related field, along with three (3) years of relevant technology manufacturing engineering experience. Alternatively, a Master's degree in the same fields with two (2) years of experience may be considered.

Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in Minitab.
  • Experience with PFMEA, PCP, and OCAP.
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Familiarity with Agile Systems.
  • Understanding of AS9100 Quality Systems.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STDS, J standards, and IPC 610.
