Position Summary:

The Communications Specialist (CS) is tasked with the coordination and execution of communication initiatives aimed at informing and inspiring faculty, staff, students, and supporters of St. Philip's School & Community Center to connect with the organization’s brand. The CS serves as the primary contact for all inquiries and is responsible for planning, organizing, and ensuring the timely and effective delivery of project requests from various departments. Additionally, the CS will engage in a wide range of cross-functional projects within the fields of communications, marketing, and public relations, fostering professional growth within the role. The CS will uphold the organization's voice both internally and externally, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all communication channels.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, critical thinking, and project management capabilities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Google Suite
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is advantageous
  • Familiarity with website content management systems
  • Basic photography skills and photo editing experience
  • Video production and editing skills are a plus
  • Proficient understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube)
  • Writing samples are required upon submission
  • Ensure that individual project requests from departments or external partners are completed accurately, promptly, and within budget
  • Prepare weekly status reports and facilitate weekly meetings
  • Draft, edit, proofread, format, and schedule communications for publication on internal and external platforms
  • Collaborate across departments to create impactful and engaging brand narratives
  • Train to become proficient in all communication platforms (Renweb, Eventbrite, Sign-Up Genius, Constant Contact, Giving Fuel, etc.)
  • Work with other departments to produce a bi-annual magazine
  • Capture visual content for both print and digital use
  • Assist in gathering content for social media platforms
  • Support the Director of Communications in developing and executing annual communication strategies
  • Participate in team brainstorming sessions and projects that require creativity and innovation
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the Communications Department

  • Coordinate and manage multiple project timelines and task lists to ensure completion

  • Proactively drive projects and initiatives to completion
  • Develop compelling brand stories related to students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, community engagement, and philanthropy
  • Bring creativity to every project, offering fresh and innovative ideas
  • Quickly learn and adapt to various software and platforms: Intranets, CMS, blogs, Giving Fuel, Constant Contact, Eventbrite, Sign-Up Genius, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
