Technology and Metrology Engineering Program Manager - Sensors

The Technology Calibration & Test group (TCT) within Hardware Test Engineering (HWTE) is pivotal in crafting methodologies and measurement solutions for the calibration and validation of critical technologies across Apple's diverse product range. Our focus encompasses metrology and design characterization for emerging technologies. We engage with a variety of technologies including Camera, Depth, Image Sensors, Motion, Optical & Health Sensors, as well as Display and Touch systems across all product lines.

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned technical leader with a robust background in motion sensing hardware to spearhead our calibration and testing strategies during the initial phases of technology development. Your extensive experience with key hardware technologies such as motion sensors, image sensors, magnetometers, and pressure sensors will be essential. A strong focus on product and customer needs, coupled with the ability to navigate complex programs through the development lifecycle, will be crucial in making informed technology and product decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technology calibration and testing strategies while ensuring a balance between quality and operational efficiency.
  • Engage in early-stage technology development, supporting activities such as incubation, prototyping, design validation, simulation, and metrology development.
  • Identify and implement mass production intent solutions while proactively managing alignment with multi-functional teams.
  • Assess risks and develop mitigation strategies, maintaining clear communication with senior leadership across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Motion Sensing Hardware: Accelerometers, Gyroscopes, Pressure Sensors, Magnetometers.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of hardware/software architecture and the interoperability of complex systems.
  • Expertise in statistical data analysis, design processes, and test Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Familiarity with simulation tools and platforms.
  • Experience in high-volume consumer electronics calibration, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and project management capabilities with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain focus and clarity in complex situations while considering the broader context and rapid development cycles.
