The City of New York's Department of Social Services (DSS) is seeking a highly skilled Service Contract Procurement Specialist to join its team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the procurement process of service contracts for various facilities within DSS. As a Service Contract Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing assigned contracts, reviewing and evaluating Work Orders submitted via the Aim System, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned contracts, including reviews and evaluations of Work Orders, to ensure timely completion and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Monitor services provided by contractors, including health and safety services, to ensure they meet agency needs and adhere to applicable safety requirements.
  • Assist contract staff in developing technical contract specifications by researching OSHA, COSH, and PESH regulations.
  • Review and inspect contractors' work to ensure compliance with plans developed by the Bureau of Space and Design.
  • Recommend priorities and advise on necessary actions, including internal air quality testing and monitoring, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Approve contractor proposals and invoices, and review reports submitted by contractors for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all sites are adhering to safety requirements and obtain required permits and approvals from contractors.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and six months of satisfactory full-time professional experience in procurement of goods, services, construction, or construction-related services, or professional, technical, or administrative experience in contract negotiation/management.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, COSH, and PESH regulations and ability to apply them to real-world scenarios.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, contract staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.

What We Offer

The City of New York offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as excellent benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
