As a Radiology Technologist I at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients. Under the supervision of experienced radiologists and registered nurses, you will be responsible for performing radiologic examinations, positioning patients, and selecting technical factors to achieve optimal imaging results.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform radiologic examinations in various settings, including the radiology department, emergency department, operating room, and hospital patient rooms.
- Position patients, provide immobilization devices as needed, and select technical factors to achieve optimal imaging results.
- Review orders, correlate patient clinical history with exam being performed, and review previous studies when follow-up and progressive studies are requested.
- Consult with attending radiologists and registered nurses as needed.
- Follow all National Patient Safety Goals, including receiving and double-identifying patients, ensuring accuracy of information and data entry, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist with screening patients for contraindications, preparing sterile fields and contrast agents, and maintaining appropriate and adequate supplies during procedures.
- Operate and understand all features and performance capabilities of general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems.
- Post-process and review images as required, prepare images for radiologist interpretation, and transmit images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
- Maintain working knowledge of all department equipment and devices, report equipment malfunctions, and report accidents and/or unusual incidents to appropriate administrative personnel.
- Assume responsibilities for patient care during procedures, provide service-oriented communication, and emphasize a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere.
- Provide instructions on safety measures to patients, family members, and hospital staff as required, and ensure appropriate safety precautions are followed.
- Apply measures to minimize radiation exposure to patients and self, record fluoroscopy time used during procedures, and function as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
- Maintain materials and linen supply, maintain general order and cleanliness of assigned room, and rotate and share on-call responsibilities for General Radiology service areas.
- Pursue ongoing continuing education, attend departmental meetings and/or inservice presentations as needed, and read and initial minutes of meetings when excused absence precludes attendance.
- Associates degree in radiologic technology from an accredited school or two years of experience in a directly related area.
- Basic Life Support OR CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification.
- Radiographer License (Hawaii) required at hire.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Radiography.
- Trauma, fluoroscopy, and surgery experience.
