Job Summary

As a Radiologic Technologist I at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality imaging services to patients in various settings, including radiology, emergency department, surgery, morgue, and portable bedside service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiologic examinations according to departmental protocols, positioning patients, providing immobilization devices as required, and selecting technical factors for optimal imaging.
  • Review orders, correlate patient clinical history with exam being performed, and review previous studies when follow-up and progressive studies are requested.
  • Consult with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses as needed, ensuring accuracy of information and data entry while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with screening patients for contraindications, preparing sterile fields and contrast agents, and maintaining appropriate and adequate supplies during procedures.
  • Operate and understand all features and performance capabilities of general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems.
  • Post-process and review images as required, preparing images for Radiologist interpretation and transmitting images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all department equipment and devices, reporting equipment malfunctions and accidents or unusual incidents to administrative personnel.
  • Provide service-oriented communication with patients, explaining procedures and answering questions, emphasizing a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere.
  • Apply appropriate measures to minimize radiation exposure to patients and self, recording fluoroscopy time used during procedures.
  • Function as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
  • Maintain all materials needed and linen supply on a daily basis, maintaining general order and cleanliness of the assigned room.
  • Rotate and share on-call responsibilities for General Radiology service areas.
  • Pursue ongoing continuing education and attend departmental meetings and/or in-service presentations as needed or required.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in radiologic technology from an accredited school or two years of experience in a directly related area.
  • Basic Life Support OR CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification.
  • Radiographer License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Radiography.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trauma, fluoroscopy, and surgery experience.
