Job Summary:

The General Manager Hotel is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a single hotel property, ensuring optimal performance and continuous improvement in key performance indicators. This role involves coordinating and directing staff to achieve profitability, guest satisfaction, and efficiency while maintaining company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee property operations to achieve optimal performance and continuous improvement in key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate and direct staff to achieve profitability, guest satisfaction, and efficiency.
  • Manage labor standards and property-level expenses to maximize flow-through to the bottom line profit.
  • Monitor collection of in-house guest balances and direct bill receivables, commission payments by vendors, and issuance of refund checks.
  • Participate in monthly inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring purchases are within budget and by approved vendors.
  • Work with the District Manager and Regional Director of Field Sales to manage all sales activities of the property and meet revenue objectives.
  • Identify and seek out potential business in the local market, maintaining relationships with local companies and key people to increase the company's visibility.
  • Recruit qualified applicants, train employees in accordance with company standards, and communicate all policies and procedures to the entire staff.
  • Inspect and document repairs and cleanliness of the property with the Assistant General Manager to ensure optimum upkeep and repair.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years related hospitality management experience required; 4-year degree highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and software, including ability to use email, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to organize multiple projects, manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage and direct a staff to perform daily job tasks.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is frequently required to travel within the local community. Infrequent travel from one city to another is required, which may necessitate air travel.

  • Ability to read and speak the English language and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively communicate professionally with guests, associates, supervisors, and others as required for optimum operation of the property.
