Job Summary:

Horsburgh & Scott is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing custom products for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Perform engineering functions for custom design products, including gear tooth geometry analysis and ratings, shaft deflection analysis, bearing life analysis and selection, lubrication system design, housing design, gear drive layout, and assembly and testing notes.
  • Review and Approval: Review and approve drawings from designer detailers for release to the shop.
  • Technical Communications: Serve as a point of contact for technical communications with customers and sales personnel.
  • Nonconforming Material Reports: Disposition Nonconforming Material Reports (NMR's) as required.
  • Engineering Change Notices: Issue Engineering Change Notices (ECN's) when necessary.
  • Support and Collaboration: Support shop/assembly when questions or issues arise and collaborate with other teams as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of ten years of machine design experience, preferably within the gear industry.
  • Skills: 3-D modeling experience, Solid Works experience a plus, ability to read and understand machine drawings, BaaN (ERP System) experience a plus, Microsoft Office applications, strong verbal and written communication skills, creative thinker and problem solver, capable of managing multiple priorities, and participation in H&S Safety program.
