What We Are Seeking:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and self-motivated problem solver with a proactive mindset, eager to innovate and transform a traditional and often untrusted segment of the automotive industry, ultimately aiming to make CarAdvise a household name. We need a hands-on finance manager with a solid accounting background who thrives in a vibrant and fast-paced environment where each day presents new challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Rhythm

  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including supporting schedules, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statements) along with variance analysis.
  • Lead financial discussions with leadership during Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews; provide financial planning and analysis, including preparations for investor and board meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.

Financial Operations

  • Manage and maintain the Chart of Accounts.
  • Clearly articulate the technical and financial implications of related processes and independently identify and resolve issues, including optimizing existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments.
  • Manage payroll processing in collaboration with benefits and compensation teams.
  • Handle sales tax and payroll tax payments and returns.
  • Support contract administration for all vendors and partners, ensuring compliance with mutual obligations.
  • Manage investor-related materials, including the Capitalization Table.
  • Assist with audit and tax preparation, working closely with an external CPA firm.

Governance

  • Prepare and maintain annual filings, registrations, and compliance calendars.
  • Evaluate internal controls, including risk assessments and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and various projects.

  • Technically proficient and a self-starter; adept at utilizing new software.
  • Strong communicator, capable of engaging effectively with non-accounting audiences.
  • A detail-oriented individual with a keen eye for identifying inefficiencies.
  • A proactive innovator who enjoys enhancing existing practices and creating new processes to improve efficiency and build trust with partners and customers.
  • Highly accountable, taking ownership and holding oneself and others responsible.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred, with a CPA designation being a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and accounting leadership roles, ideally within a technology company or top-tier management consulting firm.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles as applied to General Ledger accounting.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with SQL/Metabase is a plus.
  • A start-up mindset, willing to take initiative and contribute to team success.
  • Experience in financial modeling and data analysis is preferred.
