Education and Experience Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in an avionics or electrical field is required, or two (2) years of accredited education in aviation electronics combined with two (2) years of relevant experience. An A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license is preferred, along with other certifications such as FCC and NCATT. Position Purpose: This role provides technical expertise in evaluating aircraft systems, diagnosing issues, and rectifying discrepancies to minimize impact on schedules. The technician demonstrates technical proficiency by implementing process improvements aimed at reducing costs while maintaining safety and quality standards. The technician may also serve as a substitute for the Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician, ensuring that the company's safety and quality objectives are consistently met while adhering to daily operational plans.

Job Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Exhibit technical proficiency in avionics and aircraft systems testing and troubleshooting.
  2. Conduct the installation and functional testing of electrical and avionics components and systems on aircraft according to engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals, ensuring a flawless system.
  3. Guarantee the quality and efficiency of all installations by troubleshooting processes to deliver timely and effective repairs of malfunctioning systems.
  4. Display the skills and knowledge necessary to efficiently repair or replace defective components and wiring, ensuring installations conform to standards. Utilize effective repair techniques including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring.
  5. Execute and comply with engineering modifications and changes as required.
  6. Set up and operate necessary testing equipment. Perform functional and operational tests to assess performance and reliability.
  7. Ensure that all work conducted on the aircraft is thoroughly documented and prepared for inspection.
  8. Test and maintain testing equipment, electronic systems, and components.
  9. Adhere to the company's FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program, and all safety regulations.
  10. Adapt to unexpected schedule changes.
Additional Functions:
  1. In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as necessary.
Perform other assigned duties as required.Other Requirements:
  1. Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines beyond avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural installations and repairs.
  2. Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  3. Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  4. Must be capable of climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
