About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team at Rivermont Schools. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, providing individualized attention, and creating a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supportive Learning Environment: Assist the teacher in creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom where every student feels valued and empowered to learn.
  • Individualized Attention: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to understand and complete assignments, and ensuring they stay engaged with their learning.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and a productive learning atmosphere.
  • Communication Facilitation: Act as a bridge between students and teachers, helping to clarify instructions and ensuring that each student's needs are understood and met.
  • Instructional Assistance: Aid in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials, adapting resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Emotional Support: Offer a compassionate ear and a supportive presence, helping students navigate emotional and social challenges.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to provide a holistic approach to each student's education and well-being.
Qualifications
  • Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in special education, psychology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Relevant Experience: Experience working with children with special needs or autism (e.g., RBT, mental health technician, teacher assistant, teacher aide).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and Patience: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • Teamwork Mindset: Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of educators and specialists.
