Role Summary:

The Pediatric Medical Support Specialist provides essential clinical and administrative assistance to healthcare providers and the patient care team. This role involves executing a variety of back-office and patient-focused tasks that facilitate the delivery of exceptional patient care. The specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient patient flow and workflow within the department, aiding the care team in executing the medical care plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical and clerical support to enhance patient care.
  • Assist in maintaining smooth operations within the department.
  • Engage with patients and their families to foster trust and cooperation.
  • Perform duties under the supervision of a qualified clinician.

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program recognized by the Medical Board of California is necessary. Alternatively, equivalent training through Sutter Health or on-the-job training may be accepted.

Certifications:

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is mandatory. Medical Assistant certification from a recognized agency in California is required for incentive eligibility.

Experience:

A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a medical setting is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with various medical procedures and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Proficient in essential Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations.
  • Strong communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Competence in using computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR).

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with a typical workweek of 40 hours, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekend responsibilities.
