Job Description

The Behavior Support Specialist will work closely with the school's leadership team to ensure that all students demonstrate significant academic and behavioral growth, and develop essential character and social-emotional skills. This individual will also play a key role in leading the school's efforts to create a positive, structured, consistent, caring, and disciplined school culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model High Expectations: Demonstrate and promote high expectations for student behavior and interactions.
  • Support Student Success: Collaborate with students to achieve academic and behavioral success, and support their efforts to graduate from college.
  • Enforce Expectations: Ensure that students adhere to the Code of Conduct and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Manage In-School Suspension: Oversee the daily operations of the In-School Suspension program, including communicating with teachers, processing send-outs, addressing misconduct, and communicating with families.
  • Monitor Student Work: Distribute and monitor work completed by students during In-School Suspension.
  • Collect and Manage Student Work: Collect work from students with Out of School Suspensions and manage the pick-up/delivery process.
  • Manage Detention Programs: Oversee Lunch Detention, Early-Release Program for Detention, and Extended Detention Notifications.
  • Collaborate with DOS: Assist the Director of Operations when no students are in ISS, and meet weekly for feedback, goal-setting, coaching, and problem-solving.
  • Utilize Data Analytics: Use Kickboard and Microsoft Excel to manage behavioral data and inform discipline decisions.
