Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a seasoned Senior Cost Manager to oversee a significant green energy and manufacturing construction initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate and negotiate modifications throughout the construction process.
  • Provide comprehensive cost planning, including the development and presentation of the final cost plan.
  • Collaborate with the design services team and general contractor to refine cost estimates.
  • Ensure accuracy in the general contractor's data by reconciling changes.
  • Engage with the general contractor and owner project manager to collect status updates for cost estimate revisions.
  • Draft written feedback on the general contractor's submissions, including an executive summary.
  • Coordinate various sources of cost information for discussions with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Drive engineering priorities based on cost implications.
  • Proactively address scheduling challenges with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and precise processes.
  • Effectively manage post-contract cost variances and change control procedures.
  • Oversee cost impact assessments and maintain commitment tracking logs.
  • Prepare funding data presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.

Pre-Contract Responsibilities:

  • Develop cost plans and estimates during the design phase, delivering updates at key milestones.
  • Provide commercial insights during design optioneering and value engineering initiatives.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, leading negotiations to secure fair contract terms.

Post-Contract Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quantity surveying, cost control, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Oversee cost auditing and valuation, ensuring a robust validation process is in place.
  • Produce monthly cost reports for client presentations.
  • Facilitate timely negotiations and agreements on final accounts.
  • Compile as-built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the US construction industry.
  • At least 6 years of experience in cost management.
  • Degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience managing costs for large-scale projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • RICS accreditation or progress towards it is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proven experience leading cost management on medium to large-scale construction projects of varying complexity.
  • Strong understanding of construction industry technical aspects, including procurement routes and value management.
  • US experience is highly desirable.
