Student Affairs and Academic Support

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Student Affairs and Academic Support Specialist to join our team at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. In this role, you will provide critical support to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring a seamless experience for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support student success by providing guidance on registration, graduation, and other academic processes.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of student affairs functions, including new student orientation, registration, and handbooks.
  • Coordinate administrative matriculation activities, including facilitating communication between students, faculty, and staff.
  • Develop and execute events and programming to enhance the student experience.
  • Perform other administrative tasks related to student affairs.

Academic Advising and Support

You will serve as a subject matter expert on academic policies, degree requirements, and student progress. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Tracking student progress to degree and informing relevant staff and faculty.
  • Providing guidance on academic policy and degree requirements.
  • Assisting with course scheduling and academic pathway planning.

Systems Administration and Database Management

You will be responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining organization Canvas pages and email lists. Additionally, you will:

  • Process applications, maintain records, and generate reports using EASI.
  • Compile current graduate student data reports, surveys, and statistics.
  • Update and maintain the LBJ School website content related to admissions and student affairs.

Admissions and Recruitment

You will coordinate admissions and recruitment needs for the Office of Student Affairs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating the applicant file review process.
  • Providing administrative support to the admissions committee.
  • Communicating with prospective students and families.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
