Position Overview:
The Early Childhood Care Specialist role is essential in providing dedicated and ongoing support in partnership with the Lead Educator.

The initial year will focus on infants, transitioning with the children to the toddler environment in the subsequent year.

Primary Responsibilities:


The specialist is primarily responsible for overseeing and nurturing children in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the relevant regulatory bodies and best practices in early childhood education.

Additionally, the specialist collaborates with colleagues to implement the early childhood curriculum and childcare program effectively. This role also involves delivering exceptional service to all stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities:
Learning Environment and Teaching Duties:

- Engage frequently with children in a positive, respectful, and supportive manner, adhering to established guidelines.


- Contribute to creating a safe, joyful, and stimulating environment that promotes both individual and group activities.


- Assist in maintaining a tidy, organized classroom, featuring engaging learning centers and hands-on activities aligned with the center's curriculum.

- Supervise children during all activities, both indoors and outdoors.

- Serve as the primary caregiver for assigned children and their families.

- Provide input for planning classroom activities and center events.

- Aid in the preparation, maintenance, and organization of classroom materials.

- Support children with their personal care needs, including toileting, diapering, feeding, and comforting.


- Get to know each child as an individual, observing and documenting their growth and development using the approved assessment tools.

Parent Engagement:

- Build trusting relationships through open and interactive communication.

- Know each child's parent(s) by name and maintain positive communication.

- Share classroom information with parents.

- Participate in parent involvement activities.

- Address parent concerns professionally and collaboratively with the educator.

Staff Collaboration:

- Work cooperatively with other classroom staff, the Center Director, and administrative personnel.

- Assist new and substitute staff in the classroom.

- Guide student staff and interns in the absence of the educator.

- Share relevant information about classroom or child-related matters with supervisors and colleagues.

Professional Development:

- Maintain confidentiality at all times.

- Attend and engage in staff meetings and training sessions.


- Pursue professional growth and development, completing a minimum of 15 hours of required early childhood education training annually.

- Keep an updated record of personal professional development.

- Maintain current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification.

- Support the center and its administration.

- Foster a positive work environment and uphold a professional image.

- Assume lead educator responsibilities in their absence.

General Duties:

- Adhere to daily schedules and routines.

- Follow center policies and procedures.

- Assist with necessary record-keeping.

- Occasionally manage a group of children independently.

- Comply with all licensing regulations.

- Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Familiarity with child care regulations.

- Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and activities in line with best practices.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Ability to cultivate positive relationships with children, colleagues, and parents.

- Employ constructive methods for managing group dynamics and individual behaviors.

- Exhibit sound judgment and professionalism.

- Be a collaborative team player.

- Demonstrate flexibility in responding to program needs.

- Display creativity and patience.

- Capability to lift up to 40 lbs. and reach children as needed.


- Ability to engage with children at their level and maintain eye contact.

Qualifications:


- High school diploma or equivalent; Child Development Associate (CDA) or 12 credits in early childhood education required or to be obtained within one year of employment.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old. A minimum of one year of experience working with young children is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for providing excellent service to a diverse clientele.

Hiring Requirements:
Completion of a job application, provision of at least three references, and submission of official college transcripts.

Must successfully pass a physical examination and background checks.

Employment Type:
Full Time – 12 months. Employees will work 40 hours per week. Full-time employees are entitled to vacation and sick leave as per company policy.
