Role: Education Coordinator

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, 48 weeks per year

Compensation: $61,418

Salary Grade: 8

Key Responsibilities:

The Education Coordinator will oversee the educational objectives aligned with the Head Start Performance Standards and regulations set forth by the Office of Children and Family Services. This role includes providing educational guidance to teaching staff and facilitating the identification and support of children with suspected or diagnosed disabilities and their families. The coordinator will also be responsible for planning, developing, monitoring curriculum execution, and supervising educational personnel at the center.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education with New York State certification in Early Childhood is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three to five years of teaching experience in Early Childhood Education, including two years in a supervisory role and one year working with low-income families.
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers is essential.
  • Familiarity with developmentally appropriate practices and contemporary theories in Early Childhood Education.
  • Understanding of special education laws and regulations is required.
  • Experience in effective coaching techniques is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using personal computers is necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, training, organizational, planning, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to motivate and lead others.
  • Must have the physical capability to work in an office or classroom setting and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • A valid New York State driver's license and access to reliable transportation are required.
Note: All employees of Action for a Better Community, Inc. must obtain and maintain full clearance from the Justice Center of New York and the Office of Children and Family Services, allowing them unsupervised contact with children.
