Position Overview:

The Maintenance Manager is tasked with supervising the upkeep and repair operations within our client's packaging production facility. This position is vital for maintaining the seamless operation, safety, and efficiency of all machinery and equipment utilized in packaging production. The Maintenance Manager will guide a team of maintenance personnel, create and enforce maintenance schedules, and oversee budgets associated with maintenance activities.

Core Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Guide, mentor, and oversee a team of maintenance staff, ensuring they receive appropriate training and resources to fulfill their roles effectively.
  • Conduct regular assessments of team performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate professional growth.

Maintenance Strategy and Scheduling:

  • Design and implement preventative maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Plan and supervise routine maintenance activities, repairs, and upgrades to machinery, ensuring production processes remain uninterrupted.

Machinery and Equipment Oversight:

  • Guarantee that all machinery is kept in peak operational condition.
  • Diagnose and rectify equipment failures promptly to avert production delays.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to pinpoint areas for enhancing machinery efficiency and reliability.

Financial and Inventory Oversight:

  • Administer the maintenance department's financial resources, including the acquisition of spare parts, tools, and materials.
  • Maintain a stock of essential spare parts and ensure timely procurement of replacements to avoid production disruptions.

Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations concerning safety, environmental standards, and maintenance practices.
  • Champion safety initiatives within the maintenance team, including conducting routine safety inspections and implementing necessary corrective measures.

Ongoing Improvement:

  • Identify potential enhancements for equipment performance and reduction of maintenance expenses through innovative solutions and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing context, ideally in the packaging sector.
  • Proficient in utilizing maintenance management software and tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a team.
  • Strong analytical skills and the capacity to make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with other departments and external suppliers.
  • Ability to operate in a manufacturing setting, which may involve prolonged standing, walking, and handling tools.

Work Environment:

  • This role will primarily be situated in a manufacturing facility with exposure to typical plant conditions such as machinery noise and dust.
  • May require occasional weekend or evening hours to address urgent maintenance concerns.
