Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director to join our team at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of asset management strategies and practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement asset management strategies and practices to improve the reliability and efficiency of our physical assets.
  • Collaborate with operating agency leadership to identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement in maintenance and capital investment.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver value-added projects related to complex business improvements and information systems.
  • Develop and maintain the functional/business data dictionary for the respective functional teams.
  • Lead interagency communities of practice to develop MTA best practice and a more innovative, cost-effective, and MTA-wide asset management strategy.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning, or related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in consulting, finance, administration, or a public transportation agency.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, together with demonstrated proficiency in business case development and implementation planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an established record of successfully completing projects by obtaining group consensus and cooperation among people with no direct reporting relationship to the position.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the talent to discern different contexts and audiences and to reach consensus on strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Four (4) years managerial experience in a large corporate or government organization with responsibility for identifying, analyzing, and implementing new business practices and strategies among multiple functions across an organization.
