Role Overview:

Reporting to the designated Director of Professional Practice & Nursing, the Clinical Practice Advisor is tasked with delivering expert consultation and leading the coordination of professional practice and nursing project initiatives to ensure timely and budget-compliant project outcomes.

The Clinical Practice Advisor will emphasize providing expertise, guidance, and support regarding nursing scope of practice, regulations, and roles across Providence Health Care, promoting safe, quality, person-centered care and fostering optimal practice environments.


Key Responsibilities:


- Collaborates with stakeholders at all levels, motivating others to achieve project goals through effective communication and problem-solving.

- Oversees staff performance and engages with all levels of personnel and management to facilitate consensus, consult, negotiate, and disseminate information to enhance interprofessional practice.

- Engages with staff, consultants, and external agencies as necessary. Develops sustainable educational strategies and evaluates their effectiveness while serving as a resource for staff.


Qualifications:


- Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field, with seven (7) to ten (10) years of relevant experience, including managing large-scale projects and facilitating consultations with diverse stakeholder groups, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Skills and Competencies:
- Current registration with the appropriate licensing body. In-depth knowledge of professional practice and nursing standards applicable to various healthcare settings.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies, with the ability to coach staff in these areas.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant professional practice regulations and their implications for clinical practice, aiming to optimize resource utilization.
- Demonstrated initiative, strategic vision, independent thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities to implement project plans effectively.
- Broad understanding of patient care delivery systems across primary, acute, and residential settings.
- Excellent communication skills to navigate complex interdisciplinary environments involving both physician and nursing communities.
- Proven ability to supervise staff effectively.
- Strong facilitation, persuasion, and negotiation skills to achieve consensus and resolve conflicts.
- Capacity to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines while balancing priorities and resolving issues promptly.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, project management, and database applications.

- Provides expert consultation and recommendations on professional practice and nursing across the organization. Collaborates with Practice Leaders, Program Directors, and Operational Leaders to address nursing and professional practice issues.
- Facilitates the advancement of interprofessional practice throughout the organization. Supervises staff, sets performance expectations, and conducts performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Develops comprehensive project charters and plans detailing goals, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

- Executes project plans according to established methodologies, ensuring successful completion of project components and stakeholder consensus as needed.
- Monitors project progress, reports on status, and addresses major issues or obstacles encountered. Makes recommendations regarding project scope changes and seeks consensus for necessary adjustments.
- Acts as a resource for project teams and staff, providing support and maintaining timelines.

- Implements effective processes to assess project risks, identify mitigation strategies, and monitor risks throughout the project lifecycle.

- Collaborates with Project Sponsors to develop budget plans that align with project goals, monitors expenditures, and addresses financial issues as they arise.

- Communicates with stakeholders regarding project scope, status, benefits to patients and staff, and any changes in processes. Ensures that questions and concerns are addressed to foster staff buy-in.

- Establishes project teams by gathering input from stakeholders, identifying needs and required skills, and defining roles and responsibilities.

- Develops and promotes flexible and sustainable educational strategies, working with project teams to secure commitment to implemented processes.

- Evaluates project outcomes through data collection and analysis. Participates in various committees to establish positive working relationships, ensuring successful outcomes and cooperation from all parties involved.

- Integrates project mandates with existing services and programs to enhance project effectiveness and ensure responsible resource utilization.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.
