Job Summary

This is a part-time position responsible for ensuring that Savannah Technical College meets all the criteria as a Training Center for the American Heart Association. The Training Center Coordinator will be a member of the Health Sciences division staff and will coordinate teaching activities with faculty and staff within the College.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer courses provided by the Training Center, its aligned instructors, and Training Sites.
  • Manage the Training Center, Training Sites, and instructors.
  • Provide aligned instructors and Training Sites with consistent and timely communication of new or updated information about National, Regional, or Training Center policies, procedures, course content, or course administration.
  • Provide information, support, and quality control for all American Heart Association ECC Instructors aligned with the Training Center.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and teach regularly scheduled BLS certification, recertification, and skills checks.
  • Maintain records and ensure compliance with American Heart Association requirements.
  • Secure and distribute course completion cards and exams to instructors and Training Sites.
  • Maintain the Training Center's status as an American Heart Association Training Center for BLS levels of American Heart Association certification and other advanced certification American Heart Association paperwork.
  • Schedule, coordinate, design, and implement American Heart Association courses offered by the Training Center.
  • Maintain appropriate records as required to be a training center with the American Heart Association, including records of all American Heart Association instructors affiliated with the Training Center.
  • Provide updates to the training network with current information on American Heart Association courses, science guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain adequate course equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct quality assurance and improvement assessments.
  • Ensure instructors are monitored yearly by a Training Center Faculty.
  • Submit all training reports and American Heart Association requests by the stated deadline.
  • Complete the Training Center administrative Self-Review once a year to evaluate overall status.
  • Compile attendance and course data reports for the Training Center's annual report.
  • Complete and submit application to the Training Center for EMT and Paramedic credits for the PALS courses.
  • Complete and submit post-program data to the Georgia Department of Public Health for paramedics and EMTs that attend PALS Courses.
  • Maintain American Heart Association instructor files to ensure provider and teaching cards are current.
  • Issue instructor cards once verified that American Heart Association instructor requirements have been met.
  • Manage instructor alignment on Atlas.
  • Ensure the Training Center is compliant with American Heart Association and College policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and participate in the Training Center's site reviews.
  • Maintain a networking relationship with other Training Centers.
  • Manage instructors, Training Sites, and course rosters.
  • Submit the proper pay documentation to designated personnel and payments to the cashier's office.
  • Complete and forward the Training Center Activity Report directly to the Department Head for Paramedicine monthly.
  • Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual.
  • Follow rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia and other policies and procedures established by the Savannah Technical College.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of work-related experience.
  • Must have two years' experience as a Basic Life Support instructor.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, teaching ability, interpersonal and interprofessional communication skills.
  • Proficiency in working with computer systems.
  • Proficiency in MS software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet and database applications.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree.
