POSITION SUMMARY

The individual in this role will oversee, manage, and direct the operations of a retail outlet operated by Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries. The Store Manager will be accountable for the recruitment and training of new staff members, ensuring that all employees receive appropriate guidance and support. This position entails conducting staff evaluations and facilitating performance discussions with the approval of the District Manager.

The Store Manager will efficiently utilize available personnel, prioritizing exceptional customer service and the effective handling of donated merchandise. Responsibilities include driving sales growth, managing store merchandising, and addressing maintenance requirements. Additionally, the Store Manager will be responsible for the security of store cash, including accurate mid-day and evening bank deposits, while adhering to established cash handling procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete monthly and quarterly safety inspections and monitor fire safety equipment.
  • Foster a welcoming environment for both staff and customers.
  • Supervise staff impartially, maintaining a positive atmosphere within the store.
  • Ensure proper merchandise handling in accordance with company policies.
  • Possess the necessary mathematical skills to operate the cash register and manage store documentation.

The Store Manager will collaborate effectively with the District Manager to ensure seamless store operations and growth. Strong team-building and motivational skills are essential for this role. The Store Manager will also address employee concerns promptly and establish work schedules to maintain operational efficiency.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position typically requires a full-time commitment of forty (40) hours per week, with a standard schedule of five days. While overtime is generally not anticipated, it may be necessary based on organizational needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The role involves various physical activities, including:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Occasional sitting for administrative tasks.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of merchandise, with assistance when necessary.
  • Utilizing equipment such as cash registers and rolling racks.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of five years of retail sales experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
