POSITION SUMMARY

The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail outlet managed by Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries. The Store Manager will efficiently utilize available staff, focusing on exceptional customer service and the effective management of donated goods.

The Store Manager is tasked with driving sales growth and ensuring the store's merchandising and maintenance are up to standard. This position holds accountability for safeguarding the store's cash and ensuring accurate completion of bank deposits, adhering strictly to cash handling and banking protocols. Regular completion of safety checklists and monitoring of fire safety equipment is also required.

Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the Store Manager will interact with the public and manage a diverse team. The role demands fairness and impartiality in supervision while fostering a positive work environment. The Store Manager will also be responsible for maintaining merchandise handling procedures and ensuring compliance with all store policies.

Collaboration with the District Manager is crucial for smooth operations and growth. The Store Manager should excel in team building and staff motivation, addressing personnel issues promptly and establishing effective work schedules. Additionally, the Store Manager will ensure that all store equipment is maintained in good working order and that safety and security protocols are followed, reporting any incidents immediately.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of retail sales experience, including at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position typically requires a full-time commitment of forty (40) hours per week, usually spread over five days.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The role involves various physical activities, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. The Store Manager will also engage in tasks requiring fine and gross manipulation, as well as coordination for operating cash registers and handling merchandise.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is primarily conducted indoors, with minimal outdoor exposure. The Store Manager must be aware of potential hazards such as rolling racks and other equipment.
