The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) is dedicated to addressing the community's need for affordable housing since its inception in 1974. HOC is empowered to acquire, manage, and operate housing facilities, facilitate construction or renovation projects, secure financial assistance from various sources, and coordinate essential social services.
Role Description:
We are looking for a Temporary Administrative Assistant within our Public Affairs Division. This role involves providing comprehensive administrative support to the Vice President of Public Affairs & Communications, focusing on high-level confidential tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of office procedures and practices to effectively manage project tasks, including the review of specialized reports and the dissemination of information.
- Organize and schedule meetings, interviews, and appointments efficiently.
- Maintain an organized record of incoming correspondence and action documents, ensuring timely follow-up on ongoing tasks.
- Review all correspondence for accuracy and completeness prior to submission for signature.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly reports and packet items for the Legislative and Regulatory Committee.
- Provide additional support to the Housing Opportunities Community Partners organization as required.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in a secretarial or clerical role within an office setting.
Education:
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of office management principles and procedures.
- Expertise in managing large and complex filing systems.
- Proficient in operating personal computers and related equipment.
- Familiarity with the MS Office Suite and Google (GSuite) for email and file management.
- Ability to draft clear and concise correspondence.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and sound judgment.
