We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing Communications Specialist to join our team at College of the Canyons. As a key member of our Public Information, Advocacy, External Relations and District Communications division, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective marketing and communication strategies to promote our college programs and events.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement social media content marketing strategies, including creating and curating engaging content, managing social media platforms, and analyzing engagement metrics.
- Capture high-quality photo and video images of on-campus activities, athletic events, and other district functions for use in social media, digital advertising, and print communications.
- Assist the PIO team in operating and maintaining the district's Photoshelter digital archiving system.
- Gather information and create engaging advertising content for a wide range of media, including print, broadcast, and digital outlets.
- Assist with the production of district promotional videos, including concept development, script writing, production scheduling and coordination, talent recruiting and scheduling, researching, negotiating and contracting with vendors, and final approval to ensure consistency with district brand and quality standards.
- Conduct research and analyze data to stay current on social media and emerging marketing trends.
- Develop strategies to implement new technologies and coordinate efforts to stay current with technological and philosophical developments, creating new marketing opportunities for the district and ensuring content remains relevant to target audiences.
- Format, package, and distribute content via college email and e-newsletter tools to internal and external audiences.
- Help ensure marketing materials developed by other college departments adhere to college brand and quality standards.
- Assist with providing guidance to district employees tasked with creating and maintaining departmental social networking sites to ensure content is consistent with the district's brand.
- Develop content, scheduling, and programming of messages for outdoor marquees and indoor monitors.
- Meet with college departments in response to messaging requests and evaluate the appropriateness of messaging.
- In coordination with the Public Information Office team, participate as needed in the creation of press releases, news stories, and website content, media relations, and editing and proofreading district publications.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, scheduling, execution, and publicity for district and community public relations events.
- Establish positive and effective working relationships with district staff, media representatives, local agencies and organizations, vendors, and the general public.
- Two (2) years of full-time equivalent public relations/public information, photography, or marketing/communications experience developing and implementing public information/public relations programs, including social media.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, journalism, English, public relations, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Four years of public information, sports information, advertising, or marketing/communications experience developing and implementing public information/public relations programs.
The position requires sitting and viewing a computer monitor for extended periods of time, frequent periods of standing and walking, and occasional climbing of staircases. The position also requires dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and related equipment, and intermittent exposure to impatient, angry, and/or verbally aggressive individuals.
