IT Project Manager, Level IV

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is a premier government contractor that employs highly motivated and well-qualified personnel to support the Department of Energy at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas.

As an IT Project Manager, Level IV, you will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of strategic IT projects, ensuring consistency with and adherence to company strategies, policies, processes, methodologies, commitments, and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct the day-to-day activities of one or more projects, including the formulation of project teams, development of project execution plans, and deliverables.
  • Lead complex IT projects through the full project life-cycle, including project initiation, project planning, project execution, project monitoring, and project closure, to successfully deliver assigned projects within agreed-upon constraints (e.g., scope, schedule, labor cost, and quality).
  • Develop and execute full-scale project execution plans, including deliverables, goals, milestones, resource loading, and cost, and manage the project budget and resources.
  • Direct and utilize project team resources to successfully deliver assigned projects within agreed-upon constraints (e.g., scope, schedule, labor cost, and quality).
  • Participate with project teams, peers, and management to resolve resource conflicts, priorities, and project issues.
  • Develop and maintain project and/or technical documentation, per procedures, and ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure effective communications exist with and among projects for which you are responsible.
  • Brief upper management weekly and/or monthly on project activities, cost, schedule, status, and technical performance.
  • Participate in departmental management processes, such as planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Participate and/or develop procurement deliverables (e.g., statements of work, bills of material) for external services and materials, and may require serving in a subcontractor administrator role.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of 15-20 years of direct experience, or Master's degree with a minimum of 14-18 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance.
  • Ability to work independently and to work effectively as part of a group with diverse backgrounds and skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, time management skills, organizational skills, and oral and written skills.
  • Good understanding of risk management, risk mitigation, and contingency planning.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

This is a hybrid position that requires living within commuting distance from Oak Ridge, TN.
