Position Summary:

The Fabrication Machine Operator is expected to contribute effectively as a member of the XL Specialized Trailers team. This role involves preparing and processing components prior to assembly.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Determining the sequence of operations by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
  • Preparing machinery for production by positioning and securing dies, stops, guides, and turntables.
  • Regulating machining processes by setting and adjusting controls.
  • Producing components by marking reference points on workpieces and aligning them accurately.
  • Maintaining specifications by monitoring operations, detecting malfunctions, and inspecting parts.
  • Resolving production issues by modifying processes to meet specifications and communicating with supervisors for additional resources.
  • Ensuring equipment functionality by completing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Managing stock inventory by checking availability, anticipating needs, and placing orders.
  • Facilitating production by organizing staged components and delivering them to work centers.
  • Completing production records by documenting finished stock.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Identifying potential safety hazards and contributing to a culture of safety.
  • Collaborating with team members to achieve operational goals.

  • Performing other tasks as assigned to enhance overall operations.

Supervision Received:

Works under direct supervision, responsible for planning and executing assignments while keeping supervisors informed of progress.


Licensing and Certification:

No specific licensing or certification required.


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Essential Skills:

  • Basic understanding of shop mathematics.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed procedures.
  • Attention to quality and pride in workmanship.
  • Analytical skills for problem-solving at an organizational level.
  • Commitment to company values and team objectives.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs routinely and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends.

Work Environment:

Primarily indoor work environment.
