Position Description:
Job Overview:
The Fabrication Machine Operator is expected to contribute effectively as a member of the XL Specialized Trailers team. This role involves preparing and processing components prior to assembly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine the sequence of operations by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
- Prepare machinery for production by positioning and securing dies, stops, guides, and turntables.
- Regulate machining processes by setting and adjusting controls.
- Produce components by locating and marking reference points on workpieces, positioning or aligning them against stops and guides, and operating equipment.
- Maintain specifications by monitoring operations, detecting malfunctions, inspecting parts, adjusting controls, and replacing dies as necessary.
- Resolve production issues by modifying processes to meet specifications and notifying supervisors for additional resources.
- Ensure equipment functionality by completing preventive maintenance tasks, following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and requesting repairs.
- Manage stock inventory by checking availability, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying stock receipts.
- Support production by identifying space for staged components, delivering components to work centers, and requisitioning additional components.
- Document production records by recording and delivering finished stock.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Identify and anticipate safety and health concerns by assessing environmental, operational, and occupational conditions.
- Contribute to team efforts by achieving related results as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform any other tasks assigned to enhance the overall operations of XL Specialized Trailers.

Supervision Received:
Works under direct supervision, responsible for planning and executing assignments while keeping the supervisor informed of progress and potential issues.
Licensing and Certification:
No specific licenses or certifications required.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Basic understanding of shop mathematics.
- Ability to read blueprints and specifications, and follow procedures accurately.
- Attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Problem analysis and resolution skills at an organizational level.
- Commitment to company values.
Physical Demands:
- Extended periods of standing.
- Frequent crouching, kneeling, bending, and stooping.
- Occasional ascending/descending stairs or ladders.
- Occasional pushing or pulling of materials.
- Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends.
Work Environment:
Work is primarily conducted indoors.
