Position Overview

As an essential member of our team, the Advanced Security Systems Technician engages directly with our commercial clients to install and configure their integrated fire and security solutions.

This role also involves the disassembly and reassembly of equipment as required in both new and existing structures.


Key Responsibilities
This specialized position encompasses the installation of wiring, programming, troubleshooting, configuring, commissioning, and maintaining Fire Alarm Systems, Access Control, and CCTV Systems, along with other associated building system products at client locations. Responsibilities include:

  • Panel repair and reprogramming
  • Device replacement and repair
  • Resolving low voltage circuit issues
  • Conducting system tests

The role requires the installation and programming of fire alarm, security, and access control system panels. You will need to:

  • Organize and utilize technical resources, information, materials, and support to ensure efficient task execution.
  • Travel as necessary, utilizing the provided company vehicle and equipment.

Execution of Duties
Perform installations and programming on integrated security and fire alarm systems.


Demonstrate capability in installing cabling, field equipment, and control equipment enclosures in accordance with national electric codes and company guidelines.

Respond promptly to customer service inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and conduct repairs as necessary.

Participate in after-hours service programs when demand necessitates.

Maintain communication with central dispatch regarding installation status and updates on customer issues.

Contact clients prior to scheduled installations to confirm arrangements.

Test system operations to the signal-receiving center to ensure proper service establishment.

Coordinate installations with authorities having jurisdiction, police, and fire departments, while managing necessary completion records.

Interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, software/system programs, schematics, and operational manuals.

Supervise and inspect equipment installations to meet customer and contract specifications.

Complete necessary certification courses for internal and external products utilized.

Submit all required documentation related to tasks, activities, and productivity in a timely manner.

Conduct daily job updates and safety tasks as required.

Utilize electronic testing equipment to troubleshoot complex issues during installations.

Adjust, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and conduct operational tests.

Qualifications
Required:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Digital & Analog Camera Systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Access Control Systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Understanding of Alarm Systems' function and design.
  • Experience with IP addressable security devices (2+ years).
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including advanced TCP/IP networking.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and operational manuals.
  • Experience with hand tools, testing equipment, and commissioning devices.
  • Able to perform physical labor, including lifting equipment and tools weighing up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Capable of working in challenging positions, including heights and confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet client needs.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Demonstrated customer service excellence.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company standards.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Capability to obtain and maintain necessary licenses as required by regulations.

Preferred:
Associate Degree or completion of a 2-year technical program.

Completion of an industry-recognized apprenticeship may substitute for formal education.

Specialized Training/Certification:
Access Control certifications (e.g., Prowatch, Software House C-Cure 800 or 9000, Kantech).

CCTV- IP certifications (e.g., Axis, Tyco, American Dynamics).

Additional Experience:
MCSE, CCNA, Surveillance Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems, and Security Gate Operators.
