Job Summary

The Purchasing Supervisor will oversee the planning, organization, and direction of purchasing activities, ensuring the efficient operation of the Purchasing function. This role will develop and implement activities to meet goals, quality, and cost objectives, while prioritizing schedules based on multiple factors and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
  • Evaluate vendor quotations to ensure the utilization of appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques.
  • Implement, manage, and monitor procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements.
  • Recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high-quality products and services at a better price.
  • Approve purchase orders and change notices.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness and acceptability.
  • Gather inputs for business development, sales, and marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure procurement team has material attributes correctly identified in MRP.
  • Identify program-specific flow downs and capture them in purchase orders.
  • Oversee all activities related to procurement, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
  • Assign procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
  • Negotiate or supervise the negotiation of complex requests for equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Direct subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Ensure departments within the organization reach goals within budget and a high level of quality.
  • Prepare reports and identify obstacles to achieving business goals.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment for employees.
  • Interact with subordinate supervisors, outside customers, and functional peer groups at various management levels.
Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2-5 years of directly related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a "US Person" (US Citizens, US Nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees, or refugees).
