Position Overview

The Senior Manager of General Accounting is tasked with supervising the accounting functions, ensuring adherence to GAAP and regulatory standards, and enhancing operational processes within the department. This position includes managing the accounting team and aligning the department's efforts with the company's financial goals through precise reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee a moderately large and complex accounting function along with the associated staff.
  • Review and refine departmental policies and procedures; act as a resource for all accounting-related inquiries.
  • Guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of external document submissions and filings.
  • Act as a liaison between the organization and external auditors as well as regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare reports and analyses of departmental operations as requested by senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with external consultants or auditors to provide necessary information and maintain proper historical records.
  • Manage the creation of daily, monthly, annual, and other periodic financial statements.
  • Lead the development, modification, and assessment of accounting systems, reporting methods, and controls.
  • Ensure the integration of data produced into systems to support the objectives of financial analysts.
  • Oversee the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data and revenue in line with GAAP policies.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, motivation, and discipline of direct reports, which may include support and professional staff.
  • Assign, direct, and evaluate personnel to ensure effective operations.
  • Ensure compliance of accounting activities with established legal, regulatory, and company procedures.
  • Establish accounting plans, goals, and policies that align with the broader objectives of the organization.
  • Promote and uphold the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Utilize accounting principles to monitor and analyze financial information, preparing specialized reports as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions.
  • Review accounts and reports for precision and reliability.
  • Contribute to the design or enhancement of accounting systems.
  • Facilitate improvements in processes and procedures that accurately capture, track, and report financial transactions.
  • Mentor and develop staff members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent education and experience).
  • CPA or MBA is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead daily departmental activities effectively.
  • Expertise in Excel is essential.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint is required.

U.S. Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain DOD security clearance as necessary.
