Job Summary

The Technical Assistance Specialist serves as a key resource for providing technical support and assistance to the user community at TAIT. This role is responsible for responding to technical issues, troubleshooting problems, and escalating complex issues to the appropriate IT resource. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of computer systems and software, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triage incoming technical support requests, determining urgency and assigning tasks to the appropriate IT resource.
  • Monitor and maintain IT service desk tickets, ensuring accurate and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Document all technical resolutions and follow up with users to ensure satisfaction.
  • Perform hardware and software maintenance, as needed, to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Install and configure new equipment, including desktops, laptops, printers, and network devices.
  • Provide technical assistance to users with general computer software problems and escalate complex issues to the appropriate resource.
  • Communicate effectively with users, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information exchange.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required to stay up-to-date on technical knowledge and best practices.
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in technical support or a related field.
  • Ability to travel up to 10-15% for training, meetings, or other business-related activities.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this role include sitting for extended periods, using hands to operate computer equipment, and talking or hearing. Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. The role may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dust, fumes, or loud noises, and requires the ability to wear and properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
