Science & Society (S&S) Program

This program engages community leaders, current and future scientists, and the general public to enhance the scientific ecosystem and societal well-being. The Science & Society program serves as an experimental platform to explore ideas and strategies that elucidate, connect, and amplify the benefits of science for the public good. Our team, composed of trained scientists, responds to emerging trends, provides accessible information to counter misinformation, and remains attuned to critical issues at the intersection of science and society.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Program Assistant will collaborate closely with the S&S Executive Director and Associate Director to implement various projects within the S&S program. This part-time, term-limited position is designed for remote work, requiring approximately 8 hours of commitment per week at a competitive hourly rate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Overall Program Support

  • Editing video content for various projects.
  • Compiling and synthesizing information from program activities, including expert roundtables.
  • Assisting with the coordination of mentorship programs, educational campaigns, and ambassador initiatives.
  • Providing technical support for virtual meetings.
  • Contributing to grant writing and fundraising efforts.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

Communications and Media

  • Supporting the maintenance and updating of website content.
  • Collaborating with communications staff to promote events and announcements through various channels, including drafting social media content and creating graphics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma with 1-2 years of relevant experience; a background or interest in science is preferred.
  • Administrative experience in a nonprofit environment is advantageous.
  • Skills in website maintenance and content management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Premiere, and various social media platforms.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Exceptional professionalism and attention to detail.
