Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Public Works Officer to join our team at the Department of the Navy. As a senior civilian employee, you will be responsible for delivering a full spectrum of public works services to the installation and supported commands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct, control, and coordinate all operations within the Public Works Department using broad knowledge in facilities management, technical, financial, and administrative skills.
  • Formulate and monitor PWD budget requirements, taking into account workload forecasts, payroll requirements, travel, training, and other overhead requirements.
  • Direct Public Works Department subordinate supervisors, evaluate performance, and hear grievances or complaints not resolved at lower levels of the department.
  • Review disciplinary actions and interact with union officials in accordance with negotiated bargaining unit agreements.
  • Maintain liaison with senior-level leaders throughout the installation and NAVFAC.
Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
  • Males born after must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes when making site visits, as determined by site conditions and applicable safety regulations.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing long-term plans for a facility maintenance and sustainment program; 2) Determining funding requirements for a facility maintenance and sustainment program; 3) Coordinating assets (e.g., manpower, equipment, materials, funding) to schedule and execute facilities projects; 4) Recommending business solutions to issues in facility operations; and 5) Ensuring facilities projects are compliant with governing financial regulations.
