Position: Senior Systems Engineer

Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph Required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze user requirements, operational documents, and high-level system architectures to formulate system requirements specifications.
  • Lead design and development activities based on system requirements analysis.
  • Assist users in defining requirements, provide alternative solutions, and conduct feasibility assessments.
  • Offer technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology.
  • Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into existing operations.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Develop system architecture and design documentation.
  • Guide system development and implementation planning through the preparation of engineering management plans and integration/test plans.
  • Engage with government representatives regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and related issues.
  • Assume ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables in the Systems Engineering domain.
  • Communicate effectively with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

Required Skills:

  • Develop comprehensive Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions.
  • Create operational views, technical standards views, and system/service views for architectures using applicable DoDAF standards.
  • Conduct and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system operations throughout its lifecycle.
  • Utilize validated models, simulations, and prototypes to mitigate risks and reduce development costs.
  • Ensure effective review and control of the evolving configuration of both hardware and software components during the system's lifecycle.
  • Participate as a member of the Change Control Board (CCB).
  • Develop system design alternatives considering lifecycle costs, reuse, complexity, risk, and potential for expansion.
  • Formulate alternative courses of action, workarounds, and fallback positions for identified risks, monitoring and re-evaluating risks at key milestones.
  • Contribute to Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) efforts, recommending preferred solutions based on established criteria.
  • Provide technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software systems.

Required Education/Certifications:

  • A minimum of twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope and complexity is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering initiatives is essential.
  • A Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field from an accredited institution is required. Alternatively, five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
