Key Responsibilities:

  • DCCA is looking for a Lead Systems Operations Engineer to join our operations team, providing systems administration for NiFi systems, including system architecture, testing, and maintenance support. Collaborate effectively with fellow engineers on technical initiatives. Assess all components of a system to ensure optimal performance and interaction. Responsibilities include system configuration, monitoring, NiFi dataflow setups, troubleshooting, and implementing corrective measures to maintain operational readiness.
  • The Engineer will manage the configuration and upkeep of production and pre-production servers and systems. When authorized, they will research and initiate IT equipment purchases, facilitate equipment transfers, and identify Power, Space, and Cooling (PSC) requirements. User support for NiFi will also be provided, including phone and email assistance, optional training, and outreach.
  • Hands-on system administration support will be part of a team responsible for maintaining primarily Linux servers, including services such as VMWare, VDI, DNS/DHCP, file management, virus protection, application installation, and similar services. Additional duties involve monitoring and initial troubleshooting of Linux-based systems. Team responsibilities include executing daily 24/7 system administration tasks, implementing NiFi software updates, performing system upgrades, evaluating and applying patches, and resolving software-related issues associated with Linux systems. General troubleshooting on client systems, maintaining operational data, and monitoring system configurations to ensure data integrity are also required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with complex dataflow management using NiFi.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols.
  • Proven customer support experience.
  • A minimum of 19 years in Systems Administration, including user account management, server subsystem configuration, network management, software installation, backups, configuration management, and general system maintenance.
  • At least 19 years of cross-platform system administration experience (Linux, Solaris, Windows).
  • Comprehension of fundamental networking and distributed computing concepts, as well as performance tuning and capacity planning for servers (both hardware and software).
  • Proficiency in writing scripts in VBScript, Perl, or Shell.
  • Experience with NIS or Active Directory for cross-platform management.
  • Familiarity with server virtualization.
  • Experience managing power, space, and cooling challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skilled in scripting with Python, Bash, and Perl, along with system administration automation.
  • Contribute to the overall modernization of the enterprise.
  • Experience in designing and implementing hardware architecture.
  • Linux expertise with performance tuning (including kernel-level TCP session optimization).
  • Familiarity with NiFi functionalities.
  • Ability to understand analytical needs and requirements.
  • Experience with installation and configuration in FOSS/COTS/GOTS environments; familiarity with SALT functionality is preferred.
  • Participate in analyzing new hardware/software requirements and engage in client requirements reviews and meetings regarding customer issues.
