Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our team at The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for managing multiple capital and/or Operations & Maintenance (O&M) projects, providing project management expertise on engineering projects, and ensuring that engineering services meet our standards of quality, efficiency, and technical integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project teams in addressing day-to-day management of all project activities
  • Assist/lead the preparation of project proposals, or direct planning and scoping studies associated with the delivery of capital infrastructure projects
  • Obtain project funding and authorization through the Board letter/Board presentation process
  • Monitor and control project scope, progress, schedules, and budgets while working with Water System Operations (WSO) and Water Resources Management (WRM)
  • Utilize standard Metropolitan software applications, including Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project
  • Provide regular input and updates to the Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) system
  • Perform other initiatives related to project management or new project evaluations, as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level
  • OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Associate Engineer level
  • Relevant experience is defined as experience managing capital projects, leading multidiscipline project teams, preparation of technical reports and correspondence, experience in design, construction, or project management with facility upgrades, repairs, and rehabilitations
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent (required at time of application)
