Role Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and driven penetration tester to enhance our Cyber Defense team. Reporting to the Associate Director of Cyber Testing, Assessments, and Simulations, you will oversee the planning, communication, coordination, and execution of red team operations, penetration tests, and security evaluations across various environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, strategize, and implement penetration testing initiatives for both internal and external network assets to uncover and demonstrate potential vulnerabilities.
  • Engage in hands-on technical assessments that extend beyond automated tools, including full exploitation and access leveraging across multiple environments such as Cloud and various operating systems.
  • Develop comprehensive engagement plans, meticulously documenting findings, gaps, and recommendations for remediation, while effectively communicating identified risks to stakeholders.
  • Conduct ongoing research in information technology security to stay abreast of emerging risks and develop exploitative techniques that mimic known adversaries' tactics.
  • Contribute to the creation and application of tools for penetration testing and early detection of vulnerabilities, ensuring methodologies align with standards such as NIST and ISO.
  • Utilize both internal and external resources to gather intelligence on threats, vulnerabilities, and attacker methodologies.
  • Deliver regular risk assessments to senior management, proposing remediation strategies to enhance the organization's cybersecurity posture.
  • Support the implementation of functional strategies and operational goals to improve organizational services.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to promote continuous process improvement.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 10 years in integrated risk management, or an Advanced Degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years in security, focusing on penetration testing within large and complex enterprise networks and cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of information security principles and computer science fundamentals.
  • Proficient understanding of cloud technologies, networking, applications, and operating systems.
  • Expertise in conducting non-attributable research utilizing diverse sources, including social network analysis.
  • Experience with penetration testing frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and OWASP.
  • Familiarity with web and mobile applications, databases, and operating systems.
  • Hands-on experience in OS configuration and administration.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to execute advanced concepts such as application manipulation, exploit development, and stealthy offensive operations.
  • Programming experience with a focus on penetration testing or process automation.
