Job Overview

The Lead Financial Planning Analyst will serve as the principal resource for financial support and communication within business unit partnerships, ensuring alignment with overall corporate finance, accounting, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

In collaboration with the FP&A Senior Manager, you will facilitate the annual operating plan and monthly forecasting processes, streamlining inputs and providing insightful feedback, while connecting finance, accounting, and business partners. As a financial business partner, you will engage with teams to formulate and quantify annual budgets, ensuring expenditures align with strategic and operational goals. You will also develop and maintain standardized financial metrics to assist business partners in establishing financial benchmark objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and rationalize inputs for the annual operating plan and forecasts, ensuring financial strategies are aligned with corporate objectives. Document all inputs and assumptions clearly while meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Establish and uphold key performance indicators to monitor business trends.
  • Construct, maintain, and update financial models as necessary to support business unit investment requirements.
  • Assist the FP&A Senior Manager in designing and maintaining an efficient planning and forecasting process and tools, driving process enhancements and system automation where applicable.
  • Participate in and provide insights for monthly financial reviews and budget versus actual evaluations.
  • Monitor and communicate opportunities or discrepancies in spending relative to business unit objectives and projects.
  • Ensure financial compliance and a closed-loop process with accounting functions.
  • Oversee internal business unit financial reporting and ensure data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A Senior Manager to proactively identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Effectively manage and develop staff as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Comprehensive understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to be self-directed and prioritize workflow efficiently.
  • Competence in analyzing and preparing financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures effectively.
  • Assist in problem-solving to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Willingness to collaborate in a team environment across various departments.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, including proficiency in reading and writing in English.
  • Manage multiple project details in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Deliver work in a timely, budgeted, scheduled, and profitable manner for the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent; advanced degrees such as a Master's, CPA, CMA, or CFA are preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills are essential.
  • Proficient project management skills are required.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of direct experience in FP&A is necessary.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial reporting and consolidation or BI software.
  • Experience in consumer packaged goods is preferred.
  • Strong skills in building models using MS Excel; familiarity with statistical analysis is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV) is preferred.
  • Professional-level written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Adaptability to change and a commitment to process improvement in a dynamic, evolving environment.
  • A valid California Driver's License is required.
