Position Overview:
As a Senior Accounting Specialist at DigitalPath, you will play a crucial role within our finance team, working autonomously while also providing essential support during peak periods and in the absence of team members.
Collaboration and Responsibilities:
This position requires collaboration with fellow accounting professionals, leveraging your deep understanding of accounting principles, project management skills, and experience in financial analysis, reporting, and data oversight.
Your daily tasks will primarily be self-directed, with guidance from your management team for larger initiatives and escalations. You will report directly to the Accounting Manager.
Leadership Potential:
This role offers the opportunity to act as a peer leader within the department, with the potential for advancement into other leadership positions.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time, on-site position.
Confidentiality Requirement:
Due to the sensitive nature of the role and the financial transactions involved, candidates must successfully complete a thorough background and credit check.
Typical Work Schedule:
The standard work week consists of 40 hours, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of occasional overtime.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Efficiently manage personal and team time to meet deadlines and priorities.
2. Mentor and develop team members to enhance their professional skills.
3. Clearly communicate information, expectations, and feedback to team members.
4. Oversee daily accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
5. Manage assigned general ledgers, journal entries, and monthly/yearly closing processes.
6. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies in accounting practices.
7. Serve as backup for payroll functions, including reviewing payroll before processing.
8. Provide support for accounts payable processes, including monthly reviews and reconciliations.
9. Lead project management initiatives within the accounting department, including audit responses and data reviews.
10. Coordinate the annual submission of 1099 forms.
11. Update ledgers and financial reports as necessary.
12. Research and analyze complex financial questions, presenting findings to management.
13. Create and maintain spreadsheets for auditing and reconciling financial records.
14. Identify weaknesses in processes and recommend improvements.
15. Maintain regular attendance and fulfill other assigned duties.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
2. Minimum of three years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
3. Advanced proficiency in Office 365, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
4. Familiarity with accounting software.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Comprehensive knowledge of financial reports, GAAP, and managerial accounting concepts.
7. Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
9. High level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
10. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in all aspects of work.
11. Self-motivated to produce deliverables on time.
12. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
13. High level of discretion and confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive motions, including typing.
2. Requires near vision for detailed tasks.
3. Must be able to navigate the office environment, including stairs.
4. Occasionally lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
