Position Overview

In the role of Project Financial Controls Specialist, you will collaborate with key stakeholders across departments, projects, and programs to establish and execute control measures aimed at enhancing project financial management and minimizing financial risks. Your responsibilities will include devising strategies for effective project cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, data management, performance evaluation, accounting standards, and system integration.

As a vital member of the project management team, you will work closely with stakeholders to develop project timelines that align with cost management plans, conduct ongoing analyses of cost plans, and perform variance and earned value assessments. Additionally, you will assist in creating project and annual budgets, budget forecasting, performance reporting, and managing account data requests while providing support for financial tracking systems. Your expertise will be crucial in managing project databases and systems to ensure accurate data capture and reporting, generating insightful reports, guiding users on system functionalities, and recommending optimizations.

This position offers a hybrid work model. Candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance to our operational areas.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven experience in a project controls role, where you have developed and implemented control measures for large-scale, complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing project costs, forecasts, budgets, and conducting comprehensive financial reporting for significant capital projects.
  • Experience in developing project schedules
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (including formulas, macros, pivot tables, vlookups, dashboards, etc.)
  • Familiarity with SAP for project setup

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Data Visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Background in construction, energy, utilities, engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical), consulting, or related fields.
  • Ability to work independently and learn quickly

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this position is between $76,000 and $105,000 annually, classified as an exempt role.
  • Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan with matching contributions. Additional offerings include tuition reimbursement, voluntary life insurance, disability coverage, critical illness, accident, and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts, as well as FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts, are also available. Employee contribution amounts may vary and are generally set annually.
  • Full-time employees are eligible to accrue PTO hours.
  • Potential eligibility for discretionary bonuses as determined by the company.
