Role Overview:

As a pivotal figure in our manufacturing operations, you will:

  • Lead technical initiatives across various vendors and locations.
  • Ensure vendor and contract manufacturer preparedness for critical phases such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), integration, Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and pre-production builds.
  • Drive the development, documentation, optimization, and validation of production processes.
  • Implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance production quality, capacity, and efficiency.
  • Establish standard practices and independently assess impacts on design approaches and product parameters.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and resources to engineering teams and project leaders, as well as factory technicians.
  • Act as the lead engineer on various projects and engage in the planning of significant sub-projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in multiple manufacturing engineering functions, including:
    • Design for Manufacturability: Ensure early and ongoing manufacturing involvement to guarantee the manufacturability of new products.
    • Product Engineering: Oversee all phases of a product's lifecycle, from concept through to repeat manufacturing and end-of-life support.
    • Process Engineering: Design and develop complex processes aimed at improving quality and efficiency.
    • Failure/Data Analysis: Develop and implement sophisticated procedures for testing and evaluating products nearing release.

Utilize Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis grounded in Six Sigma principles to specify tests, compile data, and recommend product design modifications and final assembly standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing.
  • Willingness to travel internationally approximately 20-25% of the time.

Preferred Skills:

  • Significant experience in introducing products into manufacturing, particularly in high-volume production and with international OEMs.
  • Strong project management skills, especially concerning planning, cost, and delivery.
  • Experience in a matrixed organization.
  • Background in developing or commissioning custom assembly processes.
  • Direct experience leading functional engineering teams such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Packaging Engineering is advantageous.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a global context.
  • Understanding of tolerance stack-ups for assemblies and parts.
  • Familiarity with engineering design and knowledge of GD&T principles is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics, servomotors, PLC, and PC-based control systems is beneficial.
  • Experience with JMP, Minitab, and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
