About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Mobile Equipment Fleet Manager to join our team at Heidelberg Materials US, Inc. in a key leadership position. As a key member of our North American Competency Center Aggregates and Asphalt (CCA) team, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence in our Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive HME Cost Efficiencies: Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs, improve availability, and increase productivity of our HME fleet.
  • Comprehensive Data Management: Design and implement data management systems to track and analyze HME fleet performance, including utilization, OPEX, and CAPEX.
  • Improved Performance Metrics: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate HME fleet performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and support to our North American HME Fleet, including business lines of aggregates, asphalt, cement, ready-mixed concrete, and recycling.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement continuous improvement strategies across North America to drive HME operational excellence.
  • Global Collaboration: Collaborate with other Heidelberg Materials HME Fleet Managers to promote and support global initiatives and objectives.
  • Leading Practices: Share and implement leading practices, solutions, and new ideas to drive HME operational excellence.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain relationships with HME Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to stay informed about innovations and technologies that can improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Emerging Technologies: Stay connected to emerging technologies that can positively influence HME in automation, digital solutions, and other areas.
  • Global Standards: Work with the global HME Fleet Management team to create and maintain standards and guidelines.
  • Fleet Planning: Drive the local use of the Global HME database for fleet planning, maintenance, and repairs.
  • 5-Year Fleet Plans: Create and deliver 5-year HME Fleet Plans by business line for North America, including rightsizing, cascading, and prioritization of CAPEX.
  • Process Assessments: Create and implement effective local process assessments to drive improvements in operating performance, maintenance management, costs, and productivity.
  • Business Unit Relationships: Build strong relationships with Business Unit contacts to ensure effective implementation and support.
  • Training Materials: Assist the Global Fleet Management team in creating training materials.
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 Years HME Experience: Proven experience in Heavy Mobile Equipment, demonstrating solid HME knowledge and operations management aptitude.
  • Strong Stakeholder Management: Excellent stakeholder management, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • HME Analytical Skills: Strong HME analytical skills, with the ability to develop detailed data reports and present to key business stakeholders.
  • OEM Familiarity: Familiarity with major OEMs, including Caterpillar, Hitachi, John Deere, Komatsu, Liebherr, and Volvo.
  • Intercultural Competence: Strong intercultural competence and high service orientation, comfortable working with all levels of staff from operations to management.
  • Continuous Improvement: A continuous improvement mindset, process methodology skills, and change management capability.
  • Entrepreneurial Management: Entrepreneurial management skills, financial acumen, and the demonstrated ability to consider long-term risks and opportunities.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • MS Office Proficiency: Proficient use of MS Office, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Proactive and Resilient: Proactive, committed, goal-driven, with a high degree of focus and sense of purpose, demonstrating a high level of resilience and adaptability.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well individually or within a team.
  • Sustainability: Commitment to sustainable management, championing safety, and complying with anti-trust, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Travel: Ability to travel for site visits as needed.
  • Ex-Diesel Mechanics: Ex-Diesel mechanics and tradespeople with post-trade degree-level education are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HME Diesel Technician: HME Diesel Technician (mechanic) with HME operations experience in Extractive Industries (Quarrying or Mining) or.
  • HME Operations Experience: HME operations experience of 10+ years in a HME-related industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or Accounting.
