Key Responsibilities:
Assist in scheduling personnel within the department; provide training and mentorship to mechanics.

Oversee daily incident reports to create effective repair schedules; evaluate damaged units to determine repair costs and timelines.

Set maintenance and repair priorities based on material availability and operational schedules.
Ensure company and client equipment is maintained and operates efficiently.

Manage inventory in the absence of Parts staff; assess worn or damaged components and recommend repairs or replacements to management.

Ensure all vehicles are fueled, cleaned, and functioning properly.
Implement safety policies and procedures within the department; maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure cleanliness and organization of property, grounds, and facilities.

Qualifications:
Professional and courteous demeanor.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Safety-conscious mindset.
Must hold a Commercial Driving License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
Preferred: Appropriate Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications and Master Mechanic certification.
Ability to read and write in English.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of various automotive and transit equipment, including supervisory experience.


Required Skills and Knowledge:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems related to heavy-duty transportation vehicles.
Familiarity with laws and regulations governing the safe operation of maintenance facilities.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and other mechanical or electrical diagrams.
Capable of writing routine reports and documentation.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Able to collaborate effectively with labor teams.
