About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our team at Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in our Tampa office. As a key member of our commissioning team, you will play a critical role in empowering our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions and create a better, greener future for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate system test procedures to ensure seamless project execution
  • Organize user training sessions to ensure effective system operation
  • Administer functional performance tests to verify system performance
  • Conduct field observations to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with codes and standards
  • Attend progress meetings to ensure project milestones are met
  • Assist in document control to ensure accurate and up-to-date project documentation
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering (or another engineering discipline) from an accredited program
  • Functional knowledge of building systems across disciplines, including fire protection, HVAC, plumbing/piping, electrical, technology, instrumentation and controls, process or lighting systems
  • Understanding of applicable codes, standards, and specification requirements, and ability to interpret them
  • Extensive knowledge of commissioning processes and commissioning process delivery
  • Fundamental knowledge of construction processes and project delivery models
  • Proficient in application of applicable technologies, including computer/software, data loggers, test and measurement equipment
  • Professional Engineering license (PE) in one or more states or minimum of 10 years in a commissioning-related practice
  • Commissioning certification with a nationally recognized professional body
  • Valid driver's license and state required vehicle insurance

  • Ability to anticipate commissioning work and delegate and balance work for others
  • Experience in combining personal judgment and a broad perspective to make decisions that positively affect the overall commissioning process
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, including carrying out appropriate follow-through with others, mentoring, delegating work, and giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Communicates well with clients, project partners, and with individuals at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to access and interpret all types of design and contract instruments, including BIM models
  • Ability to apply safety training to specific construction situations and avoid unsafe work environments
  • Ability to use and instruct others in the safe use of test and measurement equipment and common tools
  • Strong spoken and written communications skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Effective working individually and within team environments
