About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium as a Guest Services Team Member. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring a memorable experience for all visitors by providing exceptional customer service and making every guest feel welcome.

Job Summary

The Guest Services Team Member is responsible for providing superior customer service, responding to guest inquiries, promoting Zoo & Aquarium events, and assisting other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all guests, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a friendly and professional manner
  • Promote Zoo & Aquarium events and activities to guests, ensuring they have a memorable experience
  • Assist other departments, such as Admissions, Group Events, Retail, and Rides, to ensure a seamless guest experience
  • Maintain the general cleanliness of the Zoo & Aquarium, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all guests
  • Work in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals
Guest Services Team Member Responsibilities by AreaAdmissions
  • Efficiently scan and process tickets and membership cards for entry
  • Present ticket/membership options to guests and process sales through the POS system
  • Assist with the facilitation of visiting groups to ensure quick and efficient access through the Zoo entrance
Group Events
  • Assist with the planning and execution of group events, ensuring the experience meets Zoo & Aquarium event standards
  • Create group event signage and welcome group event participants at scheduled events
  • Print tickets, update event orders, and communicate with Zoo & Aquarium staff about group event needs
Retail
  • Initiate and complete merchandise/rental transactions with Zoo & Aquarium visitors
  • Maintain store cleanliness, stock supplies, and ensure safe work conditions
  • Answer all inquiries for Zoo & Aquarium information
Rides
  • Ensure the proper use of safety practices and procedures while operating the attraction
  • Follow opening/closing procedures, report unsafe conditions immediately, and accurately complete daily paperwork
  • Load and unload ride, check ride restraints, provide safety instructions, operate control panels, dispatch vehicles, and ensure the safe operation of the attractions
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 15 years of age or older
  • Experience in a customer service role is welcomed
  • Ability to interact with all types of people professionally and effectively
  • This is an active and dynamic role that will require employees to be in a stationary position for extended periods of time, move around to complete job duties, and move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Valid driver's license required for some positions
  • Must pass background and drug screening
